Thommankuthu – seven step waterfalls drop down a rock from a height of 1500 meters with a pool beneath each step of falls.This scenic location gets its name from a great hunter, Mr. Thommachen Kuruvinakunnel, who lets the world know of this waterfall in late 1920’s. Thommankuthu waterfalls is a perfect tourist spot to enjoy the wild beauty of the forest and the stream.

Also, Thommankuthu is an ideal place for adventurous tourism.Thousands of  tourists looking for adventure and those loving healthy greenery are attracted towards the area every year.To enjoy the site, its better to take a trek to the top of the mountain, which is around 12 kms of climbing.Tourists can also enjoy fishing, horse riding, bathing in the waterfall and boating on the lake.

This amazing tourist destination is located in the deep forest of the Idukki district.The wild beauty of the jungle and the small streams coming from the nearby hills allows visitors to hold the worries and relax in the lap of nature.Its a naturally formed waterfall and the surroundings comprise refreshing weather and peaceful chirpy atmosphere.The exotic wild trees and herbs, birds and the cool airy atmosphere is a rare experience that you can feel only in our God’s own Country.

Its easy to get into Thommankuthu from the town of Thodupuzha, nearly 18 kms by bus.There are no accommodation available here,so tourists can only enjoy one day at Thommankuthu. There are many hotels and restaurants at Thodupuzha providing lodging facilities. Kochi and Kottayam are the nearest railway stations, which is at a distance of 60 kms from Thommankuthu.The nearest airport is Nedumbassery which is 80 kms away.

The best time to visit this valley is in the season of June to October, from start till the end of Monsoon. Monsoon rains makes the place more interesting by making the atmosphere more fresh and cool. Visiting is restricted from 10 am to 6 pm with an entry pass. Its one of the upcoming tourist destination in Idukki offering a good time to all the visits.
