Vavarambalam, Erumeli

Situated at 60 Km away in the lush green Western Ghats of nature-rich village, this is also the entrance point to South Indias most prominent pilgrim centres – the Sabarimala Temple. This mosque is dedicated to Vavar, a companion of the deity – Sree Ayyappa – of the Sabarimala temple. The mosque is unique because Hindu pilgrims customarily worship here before their trek to Sabarimala. The towering contours of the palm trees, the lakes and the farmlands forms a stunning backdrop from Erumeli to Kottayam that can be cherished forever by the tourists.

Festival: Petta thullal (January).
