Bus services to be stopped from August 1

The district administration has called a meeting on July 31, of the bus operators, PWD and National Highway authorities to discuss the pathetic condition of the Palakkad-Thrissur stretch and the threat of the private bus operators not to ply their services on the route from August 1. With travelling on the roads leading to Thrissur from Palakkad, especially the Vadakkencherry- Mannuthy stretch turning into a nightmare for vehicle operators and travellers, the private bus operators had declared that they will not conduct services on the route from August 1.

The decision regarding the same was taken by the Kerala State Private Bus Operators Co-ordination Committee which met at Vadakkencherry. Kerala State Bus Operators Coordination Committee president V Ashok Kumar presided over the function. The meet also decided to seek legal remedy for repairing the Walayar-Mannuthy stretch. Collector Ali Asghar Pasha said the district administration had sanctioned a sum of Rs 5 crore for the repair works.
