UPSC IES-ISS Exam 2014 Notification and Imp. Dates.

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) issued exam notification of Indian Economic Service (IES)/Indian Statistical Service (ISS) Examination, 2014

A combined competitive examination for requirement to Junior Time Scale of the Services mentioned n Para 2 below will be held by the Union Public Service Commission commencing from 24th May 2014 in accordance with the Rules published by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation in theGazette of India dated the 08th February 2014

The Services to which recruitment is to be made on the results of this examination and the approximate number of vacancies in Junior Time Scale of the Service are given below:

I) Indian Economics Service: 15 (vacancies)

II) Indian Statistical Service: 23 (vacancies)

Note: 3 vacancies have been kept reserved for PH category candidates (one for Hearing Impairment and two for Locomotor Disability or Cerebral Palsy) for Indian Statistical Services by the Govt. through IES/ISS Exam, 2014

Age limits: 

a) A candidate must have attained the age of21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 01st Aug 2014, i.e. he/she must have been born not earlier than 02nd Aug 1984 and not later than 01st Aug 1993
b) The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable as follows:

i) upto a maximum of five year if a candidates belongs to Scheduled Caste or Schedule Tribe
ii) upto a maximum of three years in the case of candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates
iii) upto a maximum of five years if a candidates had ordinary been domiciled in the State of Jammu and Kashmir during the period from the 01st January 1980 to the 31st day of December 1989
iv) upto a maximum of three years in the case of Defence Services personnel disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequences thereof

Minimum Educational Qualifications:

a) A candidate for the Indian Economic Service must have obtained a post Graduate Degree in Economics/Applied Economics/ Business Economics/ Econometrics from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational Institutes established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as University under Section 3 of the University Grants commission Act, 1956 or a Foreign University approved by the Central Government from time to time
b) A candidate for the Indian Statistical Service must have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree with Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics as one of the subject or a Master's degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/ Applied Statistics from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutes established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as University under Section 3 of the University Grants commission Act, 1956 or a Foreign University approved by the Central government from time to time

Duration of Exam: 03 Days

Physical Standards: Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Service Examination, 2014 as per Regulations

Selection Process:

Part I:  Written examination carrying a maximum of 1000 marks

Part II: Viva voce of such candidates as may be called by the Commission, carrying a maximum of 200 marks

Exam Details: UPSC commencing from 24th May 2014 in accordance with the Rules published by the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation in the Gazette of India dated the 08th February 2014
The examination will be held at the following centres: Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Allahabad, Jammu, Bangalore,    Kolkata, Bhopal, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Chennai, Patna, Cuttack, Shillong, Delhi, Shimla, Dispur, Thiruvananthapuram, Hyderabad and Thapuram

Application Fee: Candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs.200/- (Rupees Two Hundred Only) either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI, State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/ State Bank of Hyderabad/State Bank of Mysore/ State Bank of Patiala/State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card

Female/SC/STV PH candidates are exempted from payment of fee

Applicants who opt for “Pay by Cash mode should print the system generated Pay-in-Slip during Part-II registration and deposit the fee at the counter of SBI Branch on the next working day only
Pay by Cash Mode option will be de-active at 23.59 hours of 09th March 2014 i.e. on day before the closing date; however, applicants who have generated their Pay-in-Slip before it is de-actived may pay at the counter hours on the closing date

How to Apply:

This application form along with an Information Brochure containing general instructions for filling up the form, an acknowledgement card and an envelope for sending the application is obtainable from the designated Head Post Offices/Post Offices throughout the country and may be purchased against cash payment

Candidates must use only the form supplied with the Information Brochure. Form should be purchased from the designated Post Offices only and not from any other agency. Candidates must not use photocopy/ reproduction/ unauthorized printed copy of the Form. This will entail rejection. Each form can be used only once and for only one examination.

Candidates are required to apply online only by using the website www.upsconline.nic.in Brief instructions of filling up the online Application Form have been given in Appendix-II

Before start filling up of Online Application, a candidate must have his/her photograph and signature duly scanned in the jpg format in such a manner that each file should not exceed 40-KB and must not be less than 3-KB in size for the photograph and 1-KB for signature

The Online applications (Part-I and Part-II) can be filled from 08th February 2014 to 10th March 2014 till 11.59 p.m., after which link will be disabled

In cases of multiple applications, the applications with higher RID shall be entertained by the Commission and fee paid against one RID not be adjust against any other RID

Candidates are strongly advised to apply online well in time without waiting for last date for submission of Online Applications
